CitiGal women’s magazine is published with the mission of “Educating, Uniting, and Empowering” our community. CitiGal accomplishes this mission by publishing articles that showcase successful women and address “hard hitting” issues facing women such as relational aggression. CitiGal’s authors are hand picked and are professionals in their fields. Their authors provide resources for women at the end of the articles so that readers can continue learning.

Community Shares of Wisconsin (CSW) — together with its donors and member agencies — addresses social, economic, and environmental problems through grassroots activities, advocacy, research, and public education.

DIVA/DIVO is a non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of people in need by providing free work-appropriate clothing, mentoring programs and other employment-related resources, all designed to assist them in securing employment. We at DIVA/DIVO are committed to restoring and maintaining the dignity and independence of all our clients.

The GREATER MILWAUKEE HUMAN RIGHTS NETWORK mission is to promote an understanding of human rights and to promote local actions that address social issues in Milwaukee within a human rights framework. This is to be accomplished through linkages between the community and the City of Milwaukee’s Equal Rights Commission and through training and education of activist community groups.

HOPE Network for Single Mothers is a volunteer-based grass roots support system. It provides emotional and material support to single mothers and their children in the greater Milwaukee area. Founded by Gail Grenier Sweet in 1982 as a nonprofit charitable organization, HOPE Network programs are designed to help mothers gain a sense of community, enhance their parenting skills, and develop self reliance.

The Institute for Women’s Policy Research is an independent, non-profit organization based in Washington, DC that conducts research on a variety of topics, including:

  • poverty and welfare,
  • employment and earnings,
  • work and family issues,
  • health and safety, and
  • women’s civic and political participation.

Their Web Site includes a section called the Research News Reporter Online, which provides descriptions and links to recent research findings.

Legal Action of Wisconsin Badger Law exists to provide creative and effective legal representation in order to achieve justice for low-income people and others to whom it would otherwise be denied. We advocate for empowerment and systemic change to help our clients realize their basic right to a decent quality of life. We strive for active client and community participation in carrying out our mission.

The Leaders Circle (formal name of Agency Executives of Color) was formed in 2006, and is a group leadership development program for agency executives of color. Using techniques of leaders circles that have been developed around the country, this program offers a forum for these executives to share with and learn from each other in a peer-to-peer, two-way learning environment, enhancing their effectiveness as leaders in the nonprofit sector. In short, the program is built on the belief that these executives need a chance to air their concerns about their own leadership abilities in a confidential environment with the only other people who might understand and share their concerns - their peers.

Formed in 2002, Milwaukee Women inc (MWi) is a collaborative effort of executive and professional women working to change the face and quality of leadership through the advancement of women. The MWi Steering Committee is composed of representatives from Milwaukee’s leading women’s professional organizations, corporations, non-profit organizations and academic institutions. The Wisconsin Nonprofits Association harnesses resources to advance nonprofit organizations throughout Wisconsin. We find common ground for common good – among nonprofits, businesses, legislative officials and advocates.

Wisconsin Women’s Council - Works to identify barriers that prevent women in Wisconsin from participating fully and equally in all aspects of life and works closely with public, private and not-for-profit groups to develop long-term solutions to inequities. The Council is Wisconsin’s statutory commission on the status of women. Its bi-partisan Board is appointed by the Governor and Legislative Leaders.

The Women’s Institute for Leadership and Development for Human Rights aims to transform communities by ensuring the full recognition of human rights. Through the leadership of women, we engage in documentation and advocacy, training, and partner with individuals, communities and institutions to implement human rights standards in order to address multiple forms of discrimination.

The YWCA USA is a women’s membership movement nourished by its roots in the Christian faith and sustained by the richness of many beliefs and values. Strengthened by diversity, the YWCA draws together members who strive to create opportunities for women’s growth, leadership, and power in order to attain a common vision: peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. The YWCA will thrust its collective power toward the elimination of racism wherever it exists and by any means necessary.

Wisconsin Women’s Network - A statewide coalition of organizations and individuals advancing the status of women in Wisconsin through communication, education, and advocacy.
