Recent Rhinelander RSN Events
November 2007 - Rhinelander RSN Meeting focused on a presentation of Vision 2020. Vision 2020 is a campaign to end child poverty in Wisconsin by the year 2020, which is co-sponsored by the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families (WCCF), the Wisconsin Head Start Association and the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association (WISCAP). The campaign’s policy goals are focused on four areas: family-supporting wages, safe & affordable housing, access to healthcare & nutrition, and early childhood learning. November 2007 - Rhinelander RSN met and heard a presentation by Michele LaRock, Director of Tribal Relations & Minority Student Support at Nicolet Area Technical College on a grant recently received by the National Allicance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE) Education Foundation from the National Science Foundation to increase the number of females enrolling in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)courses and to help them transition from high school to college. Wisconsin is one of five initial states to receive this grant. The NAPE STEM Equity Pipeline will train state teams consisting of educational professionals and community-and state-based organizations to use gender-inclusive policies and practices in teaching, curriculum, and student supported programs.
