Founding Board Member and past Second Vice President
WW=P, Inc.
Hilary Shager served as Second Vice President for Wisconsin Women = Prosperity and member of the WW=P Policy Committee. She began her involvement with WW=P in the summer of 2003 as a researcher for the Educational Achievement Task Force, and has also served on the Advisory Cabinet and multiple working committees for WW=P.
Hilary received her undergraduate degree from UW-Madison in Secondary Education-English and Psychology, and her Master of Public Affairs from UW-Madison’s Robert LaFollette School of Public Affairs, where she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Policy. Hilary also works as a researcher at the UW-Madison Institute for Research on Poverty and is a fellow in the UW-Madison Interdisciplinary Training Program in Education Sciences. Before returning to graduate school, she taught language arts and social studies for eight years in the Madison area.
Initially, Hilary realized how important her involvement with WW=P was when her four-year-old son asked the question: “Mom, why are there no girls on money?” Her daughter continues to remind her of the movement’s salience every day.
