Barbara Munson, a woman of the Oneida Nation, served as a founding member of the Board of Directors and Regional Solutions Network Coordinator. She provided support for network development in Superior, Rhinelander Northwoods Region, Wausau Central Region and Eau Claire. Barbara was involved in several aspects of WW=P since 2003, including serving on the Advisory Cabinet and training facilitators for the Wisconsin Women Forward Convention.

Barbara graduated from the UW-Madison with a degree in Art and Art Education in 1966, and has acquired several additional credits in guidance and counseling and marriage and family therapy. Barbara worked in the field of alcohol/drug treatment for Central Wisconsin Indian Center and the Oneida Tribe. Barbara worked as artist for the North Dakota Ballet Company and the Performing Arts Foundation in Wausau and served on the founding board of Central Wisconsin Children’s Theatre and the Oneida Nation Arts Program. Now in retirement, Barbara devotes her energy to projects near to her heart. Barbara is a member of the Wisconsin Arts Board and is involved in developing the Woodland Indian Arts Initiative strengthening artistic traditions in Wisconsin Indian communities. Barbara Serves Vision 2020 the Wausau and Marathon County diversity committee and is AAUW State Board Diversity Chair. Long a member of Wisconsin Indian Education Association, Barbara chairs its “Indian” Mascot and Logo Taskforce dedicated to the elimination of this form of stereotyping from Wisconsin Public Schools. Barbara is also a member of Midwest Treaty Network and advocates for Indian and environmental issues. Barbara has served as a staff member for the Department of Public Instruction American Indian Studies Summer Institute for nine years.
