Iraq Exchange Program - Summer 2010
Global Youth Leadership Institute is looking for students to participate in their Iraq Exchange Program. GYLI, as a sub-grantee of and the US Embassy in Baghdad, will welcome a group of 12 student leaders and 1 adult from Iraq for a 13-day community program in Boston, MA from July 22 - August 2, 2010. The US Embassy in Baghdad will select 6 students from the south of Iraq and 6 students from the north of Iraq to take part in this program. The goal of this program is to increase positive relations between citizens of USA and Iraq, between citizens from various parts of Iraq, and to equip Iraqi teens with leadership and community-building skills.
During the course of the program, participants will partake in various workshops, visit cultural and religious sites, interact with community service organizations, and meet with NGO and government officials. The students will be staying with host families to build relationships across culture and nationality. Throughout their stay, participants will be documenting their activities on video in order to create a final documentary about their experience.
