Mount Mary Seeks a Vice President for Institutional Advancement
Mount Mary College is seeking an individual to contribute to the realization of our mission through the role of Vice President for Institutional Advancement. The Vice President for Institutional Advancement reports to the President. She/he is responsible for ensuring that the College is able to secure funds to accomplish its mission and strategic goals as well as to execute a communications campaign that reflects the institution’s history, traditions and distinctiveness to
inspire and engage its constituencies. The Vice President is a part of the senior management team and sits on the President’s Council.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide leadership and supervision for Institutional Advancement.
• Effectively execute advancement goals.
• Manage College resources effectively.
• Oversee development and fund raising campaigns, including a capital campaign.
• Increase donor support by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting existing and new major donors.
• Oversee the planning, coordination and execution of special donor events.
• Create a campus-wide culture of philanthropy.
• Oversee a marketing/communications program that focuses on the mission and consistent messages and identity, publications, advertising and online communication to enhance the College’s image for recruitment and fund raising.
• Participate in strategic planning for the College.
• Represent the College to the external community as requested by the President.
• Work with the college’s Board of Trustees and various committees within the Board to promote initiatives and projects pertaining to institutional advancement.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Unwavering integrity and a deep sense of social justice that are consistent with and uphold the mission of the School Sisters of Notre Dame and Mount Mary College.
• An advanced degree is strongly preferred; a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight to ten years experience as a fund raising/advancement executive are required. Experience in fund raising in a higher education setting is desired.
• Senior manager with inspirational leadership qualities, experience and thorough knowledge of the role of institutional advancement in supporting the educational mission of a private Catholic College for women.
• A record of achievement in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and principal gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
• Demonstrated experience with all phases of development including the development of a strategic plan for advancement and the execution of successful advancement campaigns in coordination with staff.
• Understanding of technology specific to development.
• Ability to assess and improve systems and processes to further the goals of the advancement office.
• Skills to conceptualize and execute a communications campaign.
• Excellent human relations skills with ability to build relationships with donors.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, oral and written.
• Ability to function in a high-stress environment.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Flexibility; previous supervisory experience; familiarity with budget preparation and management.
