Journey House Seeks a Project Director for The Urban Careers Institute

Job Title: Urban Careers Institute Project Director
Reports To: Zilber Neighborhood Initiative (ZNI) Director- Clarke Square
FLSA Status: Exempt, Limited Term Employment
Site Location: Clarke Square Neighborhood
Limited Term Employment: November 30, 2009 to August 31, 2010

Summary:
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations and evaluation of the ZNI Urban Careers Institute that offers 7 high demand, high growth job sectors to 174 low-income adults with target audience Clarke Square low-income, unemployed residents, Out-of-School young adults, and UNCOM MAWIB WIA out-of-school youth. Workforce readiness incorporated into all job skills trainings.

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and carrying out a comprehensive plan to place 75 low-income, unemployed individuals in self-sustaining employment. The planned outcomes and strategies should be in accordance with the Clarke Square Quality of Life Plan, working together with local organizations, residents, government agencies, consultants, businesses, and local service providers. The ZNI is a long-term comprehensive community development initiative supported by the Zilber Family Foundation that aims to support the implementation of locally-driven quality-of-life plans in targeted Milwaukee neighborhoods.

The Urban Careers Institute Project Director will work closely with the ZNI Director, who oversees all aspects of the Clarke Square Zilber Neighborhood Initiative. The Urban Careers Institute Project Director will supervise coordinators/instructors within the Urban Careers Institute and report directly to the ZNI Director. The Urban Careers Institute Project Director will also play a role in supporting and promoting the citywide Zilber Neighborhood Initiative and the Clarke Square Quality of Life Plan. In all instances the Urban Careers Institute Project Director must perform in accordance with and be committed to the Journey House mission and vision.
