SDC’s mission is to empower low-income residents with the resources to move beyond poverty. These resources come in many forms and are not limited to SDC’s programmatic responses to poverty. SDC also works to create platforms for traditionally marginalized groups to voice their experiences, thoughts, and ideas for how to improve our community. These platforms come in the form of door-to-door surveys, public symposiums, roundtable discussions, consumer interviews, public hearings and low-income representation on decision making bodies. By listening to the voices of everyone in the community, the public dialogue is enhanced and a better democratic process is producedthese principles are the backbone of SDC.
