NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin Call to Action

Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, recently announced that Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s confirmation hearings will begin on July 13.

As members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sens. Feingold and Kohl are in a unique position to ensure that Judge Sotomayor gets a fair hearing that includes questions about Roe v. Wade and the right to privacy.

The Supreme Court currently has four pro-choice justices, four anti-choice, and one swing vote. The last two choice-related cases were decided with a 5–4 vote. With pro-choice Justice Souter retiring, it is imperative that the next Supreme Court justice is someone who will uphold the right to choose!

NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin would like you to contact Senator Feingold and Senator Kohl from now until that hearing on July 13, 2009 to show your support for Judge Sotomayor.
