Margaret Wheatley Leadership Revival Tour

Nearly 400 women packed Alumnae Auditorium late Monday evening, June 16, 2008 when Margaret Wheatley stopped in Milwaukee on her Leadership Revival Tour. One Drum, a local African drumming group, set the pace for the evening, providing a rhythmic, pulsating beat, giving a glance of what was to come. The event promised to motivate and promote women’s leadership throughout the nation — and so it did.

2008 NEW Leadership™ Wisconsin
June 4 – 10, 2008
To the proud applause of family, friends, and staff, 20 remarkable women proceeded to the front of Helfaer Hall to receive diplomas commemorating their graduation from the 2008 NEW Leadership™ Wisconsin program.
The third year of this week-long, residential program, which ran from June 4–10, gathered statewide talent to the Mount Mary College campus. The driven women represented a variety of ages, ethnicities, and demographics, tapping into different regions of Wisconsin, many private colleges, and University of Wisconsin campuses for their emerging leaders.

Political Forum

Five state-wide elected officials filed into their seats for a panel discussion – not to campaign, debate, or lobby – but rather to encourage fellow women to fulfill the need for female representation in political office. Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton gave a keynote address and Christine Lidbury, executive director, Wisconsin Women’s Council, provided a special update on the 2007 Wisconsin Women in Elected Office Report. Other panelists included State Senator Lena Taylor and four newly-elected office-holders, Wauwatosa Mayor Jill Didier, Milwaukee Alderwoman Milele Coggs, Deerfield Town Board Supervisor Heather Smith, and Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Rebecca Dallet – a diverse representation of knowledge and experience. IFF Wisconsin
May 12, 2008
Mount Mary College hosted an IFF workshop in Milwaukee, providing vital information to a group of area nonprofits. The IFF, formerly the Illinois Facilities Fund, is the Midwest’s largest Community Development Financial Institution and is expanding in Wisconsin. IFF serves Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, and now Wisconsin. The Milwaukee seminar raised awareness of IFF’s services available to local nonprofit groups. Trinita Logue, IFF President and CEO, offered advice regarding financial strategizing and loan acquisition.
