Awesome Roadtrip Week!!
April 17–22, 2006
Last week I had a great opportunity to travel the state and meet women and allied males involved with Wisconsin Women = Prosperity. On April 18th the WWP Board of Directors met in Wausau for their monthly meeting. Board members Linda Vanden Plas, Jane Crisler, Yvonne Lumsden-Dill and Brenda Halminiak joined Barb Munson in her town of Wausau at the Jefferson Street Inn. Many board members participated electronically from all points of the state.
Following the board meeting the local WWP network met for lunch and feedback session with WWP volunteers and agencies/organizations in Central Wisconsin. The board spent time with these interested parties gaining invaluable feedback about how the WWP issues relate to their community and work. Later in the afternoon, we traveled to Rhinelander with board member, Brenda Halminiak for a similar meeting at the Holiday Inn Express. These sessions provided priceless contributions to the evolution of WW=P and immediate take action solutions within the communities and for WWP. A special thanks to Marian Seagren Hall and Lucy Harvey in Wausau, Anne Lee, Wisconsin Rapids and Anne Cirilli, Lisa Kuczmarski, Michele LaRock, and Kris Adams Wendt in Rhinelander for their continued and dedicated WW=P leadership. And thanks again to all who attended. We appreciate your interest and efforts so much.
Saturday I was off to Manitowoc for WOMENomics!
Multi generational women with a variety of careers and perspectives gathered for a forum to enable working women to identify the challenges facing them and take important steps to develop solutions benefiting women, their families and their employers. The break outs were very fruitful in identifying the opportunities for women, employers and the community to shift their practices and plans to advance women economically. Lt. Governor Lawton set the tone with an engaging and empowering opening presentation. The media attended and there was an article in the local paper that day (see WW=P Press). Hats off to Keeley Crowley and her committee for a wonderful event.
